Meet the “I” in the DISC

Meet Shirley. She’s someone who uses big gestures and facial expressions as she talks and seems to enjoy talking and sharing with others. Though she’s the life at any party, she isn’t the one to plan it. She tends to make quick decisions, not always thinking about the consequences and is someone who enjoys whatever moment she finds herself in. Primarily, she is considered a “people person” and can hold a conversation with just about anyone.

Shirley is a High I-Style communicator.

High I-style (Influence) communicators can be recognized by the way they interact with others. They are friendly and conversational.

To recognize a high I-style communicator, look for the following key characteristics:

  • Seeks out others proactively to make contact and connect

  • Active body movements with large gestures and fluid facial expressions

  • Fast-talking with few breaks or breaths before moving onto other topics

For some people, talking with a high I-style communicator is an enjoyable experience.
